Introducing Dimmable Lights & Mood Lighting at Glow Fixtures

Dear Architect/Interior Designer/Electrical Consultant,

Dimmable lights have been round the corner for quite sometime but its only recently that their costs have gone down drastically. Also CFL dimming used to reduce the life of CFLs but that is not the case with LEDs. The more we dim LEDs the better the performance & life of the LED light source. Dimming can be obtained via standard lighting protocols available such as DALI, 0-10V, DMX, phase cut etc. 

The most common and economical dimming interface available is 0-10V & phase-cut which are being used to dim LED Downlighters and also LED Strip Lights. However the architect or designer should plan in advance which type of dimming and what light sources he/she wants to use in the project and accordingly wiring layout should be done. Many a times it happens that the designer or customer wants to implement dimming or mood lighting in the project but he realizes this after the electrical wiring is completed and hence not much can be done. Wireless solutions are also available to control lights but they are more suitable for existing homes/offices where the customer does not want to do any electrical wiring.
